Albrecht denounces continuing education practice

As Managing Director of the Empress Friedrich Foundation, Dr. med. Gisela Albrecht gets a very close look at how Germany presents itself to foreign guest doctors. The foundation itself looks after numerous scholarship holders, for example from East Asia and the Arab world.

In an article for the German Medical Journal (issue 37; September 16, 2011), Albrecht criticizes the bureaucratic hurdles and the often unwillingness of senior physicians to employ and support their foreign colleagues appropriately. In current practice, it is hardly possible to actually train to become a specialist. As a result, many guest doctors in Germany feel isolated and left alone, Albrecht says. Read the full article here.
